Mint Chocolate Chip Brownies

I’m flying in at the last minute with this month’s Food n’ Flix recipe!  This month really got away from me!

This month’s movie was The Princess and the Frog, hosted by Heather at All Roads Lead to the Kitchen.

The movie is set in New Orleans – so one naturally thinks Cajun food, but here I am with brownies.

Mexican Hot Chocolate Sugar Skull Cookies #Choctoberfest

*Disclosure: I received product to sample from Sprinkle Pop.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

It’s the final day of #choctoberfest and I decided to continue the Dia de los Muetros celebration I started a couple weeks ago when I made Pan de Muertos (Bread of the Dead).

I’ve made Sugar Skull Cookies for the past couple years, taking the time to pipe all of the details by hand with royal icing.  The cookies are gorgeous, but incredibly time consuming.  This year, with a full load of graduate school classes in addition to my job as a school librarian, plus being room mom for both of my kids’ classes, I just didn’t know when I was going to have the time to make my skulls.  And my boys were already asking if I was going to make Halloween cookies for their friends this year.

Then I got my sprinkles of Sprinkle Pop and I knew that their stunningly beautiful Dia de los Muertos mix was going to be the answer to my prayers!

Molasses Cookies with White Chocolate Espresso Frosting #choctoberfest

*Disclosure: I received product to sample from #Choctoberfest sponsor Forte Chocolates.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Buckle up for another day of chocolaty goodness as we embark on another day of #Choctoberfest!  Today I’m venturing into new waters with a #choctoberfest first for me: I’m using white chocolate!

This whole recipe came about when I received my package form Forte Chocolates.  My package contained Milk Chocolate with Sea Salt (which I ate because it’s delicious), Dark Chocolate (which I used in my Chocolate Babka) and White Chocolate Espresso with actual espresso blended into the white chocolate!  Amazing!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcakes #Choctoberfest

*Disclosure: I did not receive products from sponsors for this post.  However, have received products from Imperial Sugar in the past & used their products for today’s post.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

You guys.

I am so excited to share today’s #Choctoberfest recipe!  It’s been in the works for a while – and Instagram has been getting sneak peeks as I tweaked the recipe to get it just right!  Because if one is going to make Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcakes, they have to be just right!

Steak Stir Fry Noodle Bowls with Homemade Udon Noodles #FantasticalFoodFight

This month’s Fantastical Food Fight nearly snuck up on me!  I almost passed, but once I realized the challenge was pasta, I knew I had to participate.

And I wasn’t going to make boxed noodles either, nope, I decided to make homemade Udon noodles!

Chocolate Babka #choctoberfest

Today it’s an exciting day, because two events combined to push me outside of my bread baking box!

First off, it’s #Choctoberfest with Imperial Sugar – a celebration of all things chocolate!  Don’t forget to check out the sponsors and enter the giveaway here!

Today also happens to be World Bread Day and a dough lover like myself is not going to let that slide on by!

Before I realized that these two events were on the same day, I’d already decided that I wanted to branch and really stretch myself as a baker.

After I realized that bread day and Choctoberfest would coincide, it was obvious that my challenge was going to be chocolate bread and I immediately know I wanted to try Babka – definitely a challenge!

Pan de Muerto (Mexican Day of the Dead Bread) #eattheworld

It’s time for this month’s Eat the World recipe challenge…with a twist!

Instead of everyone cooking from a specific country this month, we’re celebrating Halloween around the world!  This meant, everyone could choose their own country to represent, so long as it relates to Halloween in some way!  For more information on Eat the World, click here.

Pikachu Pizza #NationalPizzaMonth

It’s National Pizza Day!  Now that’s a day I can get behind!

Every Friday, my family enjoys pizza/movie night.  Each week a different family member gets to choose the movie and the pizza!  Some weeks we order in, but others we make homemade pizza!

My 8-year old, Spud is a huge Pokémon fan (he calls his bedroom the Pokémon Academy and has Pikachu plastered everywhere).  So, on his movie night, he borrowed a Pokémon movie from the library and came up with the concept of Pikachu Pizza, Pizza-chu, if you will.
