Welcome to Day 6 of #TripleSBites!

I eat salads nearly every day for lunch.  I love that this particular salad is versatile enough to be a main dish (with the turkey) or a side (without the turkey!)

It starts off with some homemade croutons seasoned with Pirate Jonny’s Sweet Caribbean Hot Sauce, Syrena’s Seduction, and a bit of Gourmet Garden Parsley.

Then the salad is tossed with the lightly sweet Roasted Beet Vinaigrette from Out of the Weeds.  Various veggies are tossed together and the whole thing with topped off with some cheese grated with the fabulous Kitchen IQ grater.

I can tell you that this is my new favorite salad!  I’ve been munching on the spicy croutons every time I pass the kitchen because they’re just so good!

Seductive Tossed Salad

Spicy Croutons
2 ½ cups bread, cut in 1-inch chunks
1 tbsp butter, melted
1 tbsp Pirate Jonny’s Syrena’s Seduction Sweet Hot Sauce
Pinch of Gourmet Garden Lightly Dried Parsley
Dash cayenne pepper

Salad
4-5 cups romaine lettuce, chopped
2-4 tbsp Out of the Weeds Roasted Beet Vinaigrette
Dash or two Pirate Jonny’s Syrena’s Seduction Sweet Hot Sauce
1 cucumber, diced
1 stalk celery, diced
1 carrot, cut in matchsticks
1 avocado, diced
4 oz cooked turkey, shredded
Parmesan cheese, grated with a Kitchen IQ Grater

To make the croutons:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Place the bread chunks in a bowl.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the butter, hot sauce, parsley, and cayenne.  Drizzle about half of the sauce over the bread and toss lightly to coat.  Pour the remaining sauce, tossing lightly until the bread is evenly coated.

Spread the coated bread onto a baking sheet, leaving space between individual pieces, if possible.  Bake for 8-12 minutes (checking and stirring every 3-4 minutes) until the croutons are crisp and browned.  Set aside to cool.

To make the salad:

Place the lettuce in a bowl.

Stir together the vinaigrette and hot sauce and drizzle over the lettuce, tossing gently to coat.  Add in the diced celery, cucumber, and carrots and toss to mix.

Divide the salad between two bowls and top with shredded turkey, avocado, Spicy Croutons, and parmesan.

  1. Great idea, spicing up the croutons like that. You are not going to believe this but I had the funniest dream last night with you in it. I dreamt we were at Mass and all of the sudden there were people dressed in costume coming up to the alter like it was a stage. The priests started giving them high 5's and then they started singing and dancing around the alter. You and I looked at each other and decided it was too ridiculous and we left.

  3. Such a smart idea to use that sauce for croutons!! It smelled SO good when I opened it the other day - I am going to slater it on some grilled chicken and make some croutons with it too and try that for a salad; hopefully I'll get to try that this weekend!
