Chocolate Chocolate Chip M&M Cookies

It’s time for another Kids in the Kitchen!  Below, Dude has created a recipe and post from start to finish, he reads ingredients, measures and cooks (with adult assistance when needed).  Dude wrote about his recipe (I did the ingredients and directions), chose props and took the photos.

Last week, we were at the grocery store and I was stocking up on baking supplies when Dude decided that he wanted to bake some cookies (never mind that it was Halloween week and we’d just baked sugar cookies o.O)

Since he was so excited, I just couldn’t say no.  In the store, he said he wanted to make chocolate cookies with chocolate chips and M&Ms, so we ended up making a chocolate version of the Best Cookies Ever.  And since they’re based off the Best Cookies Ever, these cookies are completely amazing and perhaps even better than the Best Cookies Ever.  Now, here’s Dude:

I decided to cook these because I thought they would taste good!

After diner I ate my cookie and it tasted amazing!

If you taste these cookies, you will love them!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip M&M Cookies

1 cup unsalted butter, softened
¾ cup brown sugar
¼ cup white sugar
1 (3.4 oz) package chocolate instant pudding
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
2 tbsp special dark cocoa powder
2 ¼ cups all purpose flour
2/3 cup mini chocolate chips
2/3 cup mini M&Ms
2/3 cup semi sweet chocolate chips

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and line baking sheets with parchment.

Place the butter and sugars in the bowl of a stand mixer and beat until smooth and creamy.  Add the pudding mix and mix until combined.

Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix each one thoroughly; stir in the vanilla.

Turn the mixer to low and slowly add the cocoa powder, baking soda, salt, and flour.

Use a large spoon to stir in the M&Ms, mini chocolate chips, and chocolate chips.

Use a 2 tablespoon scoop to drop the cookies onto the prepared sheets.

Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes or until the cookies are set.  Cool on wire racks and store in a tightly sealed container.

Makes about 36 cookies
