Patriotic Minty Watermelon Sangria

Every 4th of July picnic needs a festive beverage.  So why not mix up a nice pitcher of Sangria for the adults?

This colorful and fruity beverage has your RED watermelon, WHITE wine, and BLUEberries.  Happy Independence Day.

Patriotic Minty Watermelon Sangria
An Amy Original

1 bottle dry white wine
1 ½-2 lbs watermelon, cut in cubes
1 handful of mint leaves
1 tbsp lime juice
½ cup fresh blueberries
1 (12 oz) can sprite (or other lemon-lime soda)
Ice

Place the watermelon in a large pitcher.  Pour the wine over the watermelon.

Combine the mint leaves and lime juice in a small bowl and use a spoon to lightly bruise the mint.  Stir the leaves into the wine and watermelon mixture.  Refrigerate for 2-4 hours.

Fill wine goblets about a quarter full of ice cubes.  Spoon watermelon from the wine mixture into each glass and pour wine over the top.  Drop a handful of blueberries into each glass and top with a splash of sprite.

Serves 4-6 (or 2, if that’s how you roll)

Enjoy!
