Snow Globe Cupcakes

This post first appeared on my other blog in 2014, but since I no longer maintain that one, I'm reposting some of my favorites here!

Ever since I saw these super cute Coca Cola Snow Globe Cupcakes from Bakerella, I’ve wanted to make some of my own.

This was finally my year.

For these cupcakes, I took regular chocolate cupcakes (though something festive and Christmassy would be great, too) and frosted them with buttercream.  I then immediately (before the frosting had a chance to crust) gently rolled the tops through a small bowl filled with white sugar until the entire surface was coated. 

Then I made a little snowman out of fondant (I almost made Olaf, but I was running short on time) and added the globe (it’s a round Christmas Coke bottle with the top cut off [Hubs used a Dremel]).

And done!  They’re so festive and cute!
