Blacked Steak Caesar Salad

I’m a big fan of salads.   I even find myself ordering dinner salads at restaurants!  This one is an at home version of a favorite of mine from a local restaurant.

It’s a favorite because it’s fresh, healthy, and there is a ton of flavor!  The best part is that this dinner salad appeals to the men in my family...because...steak.

Though I do have to admit that I seasoned the kids’ portions with salt and pepper and added spicy dry rub to the ones Hubs and I enjoyed!

Sunday Funday was all about the garlic today! Enjoy these other garlicky recipes!

Blackened Steak Caesar Salad

Steaks

Adapted from Epicurious

1 pound New York Strip Steaks

½ tablespoon paprika

1 teaspoon black pepper

¾ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon cayenne pepper

½ teaspoon garlic powder

¼ teaspoon dried oregano

¼ teaspoon dried thyme

2 tablespoons butter

Dressing

Adapted from Natasha's Kitchen

⅓ cup olive oil

¼ cup grated parmesan cheese

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 tablespoon mayo

1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard

¼ teaspoon garlic powder

¼ teaspoon black pepper

Salad

Romaine lettuce

Crumbled feta cheese

Kalamata olives

Breadsticks or croutons

To make the steaks, preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and heat the butter in a cast iron skillet oven medium-high heat.

Whisk together the remaining steak seasonings and rub all over the steaks.

Add the steaks to the hot pan and sear on one side, cooking for 3-5 minutes.  Flip the steaks and place the skillet into the oven.  Cook in the hot oven to desired temperature.

To make the dressing, whisk together all of the dressing ingredients, then toss with the lettuce.

To serve, place the lettuce on plates and top with feta and olives.  Cut the steak against the grain and place on the salads.  Serve with croutons or breadsticks.
