I’m rereading Harry
Potter for the umpteenth time.
I just love Harry
Potter. In these trying times, I needed
Harry Potter! The escape from reality,
the magic, the triumph over evil. Yes,
this is exactly that I need right now.
Every time I’ve read the
first Harry Potter, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, I’ve read
chapter 2 and wondered what exactly the treat Harry enjoyed at the zoo,
Knickerbocker Glory, was?
This year, I finally
decided to look it up. It turns out a Knickerbocker
Glory is basically a parfait/ice cream sundae type treat. It typically includes a vanilla custard (or
ice cream), a berry sauce, fresh fruit, and nuts.
It was definitely time
to give this a try with homemade strawberry sauce, of course! Now, I’m usually a chocolate sauce and ice cream
type of girl, but I’m willing to make an exception for this!
The fresh fruit combined
with the homemade strawberry sauce & vanilla ice cream is perfection! Knickerbocker Glory is the perfect summertime
treat!

Adapted from BBC Food
Vanilla ice cream
Fresh fruit (I used
strawberries & blackberries)
Chopped nuts (I used
walnuts)
Scoop the ice cream into
bowls. Top with strawberry sauce and
fruit. Add another scoop of ice
cream. Top with additional strawberry
sauce and fruit. Sprinkle chopped nuts
on top. Serve immediately.
