Ocean's Eleven Movies and Munchies Round Up

Woohoo!  Thank you to everyone who joined me for our very first Movies and Munchies!

In this new group, anyone can participate by watching the monthly movie, then posting a recipe and dropping a link in our Facebook group.  Click here for full details.

Our first movie was Ocean’s Eleven and here what everyone brought to the table:

Wendy from A Day in the Life on the Farm brought High Stakes Pitas

She says:

I decided to make a play on the Vegas setting and that last food scene and make a High Steaks Pita. Pun intended.

Since it was a "High Stakes" pita, I used filet mignon.  It was perfectly scrumptious and worthy of a Vegas restaurant.

Next up was Sue from Palatable Pastime with Clams Casino.

She says:
While I might typically choose a food that  is  in the film,  I have instead chose clams casino. First for  the  obvious casino  connection. Then because to someone who hasn’t made the  appetizer  before, it might seem  impossibly hard to create.

Next was Terri from A Good Life with Classic Shrimp Cocktail.

She says:
In the movie Rusty Ryan (Brad Pitt) is eating or drinking something in almost every scene he's in.  Around the 45 minute mark, Ryan enjoys a shrimp cocktail.
It's said that during this scene Rusty eats approximately 40 shrimp while shooting the scene. That would be ok by me, as a shrimp cocktail is one of my all-time favorite foods.  In the scene, however, the dish switches from a plate of shrimp to a glass of shrimp back to a plate.  Tiny little continuity error here.

Next we have Debra from Eliot's Eats with Cajun Popcorn Spice.

She says:

I knew what I wanted to make as soon as I saw Rusty exit the circus and throw a popcorn container into the back of his convertible—popcorn.  (I will say that nachos were a close second.)

My sister gave us some homemade popcorn spice along with a bag of old school popcorn—you know, the kind you cook on the stove with oil in a big-lidded saucepan.

I brought Pepper Jack Queso (Queso Blanco) to the party.

Lastly, Camilla from Culinary Adventures with Camilla brought 2 recipes: Salad for Saul and "All Red" Sugar Cookies!

She said:
I can't even begin to imagine how many times my family and I have seen that movie. We debate around the table which of the movies we like best: Oceans Eleven, Ocean's Twelve, or Ocean's Thirteen. I can tell you that we only watched Ocean's Eight one time and we have never seen the original Ocean's Eleven. We might have to track that one down soon
I hope you can all join us next month when we watch the French Dispatch!
