Baseball Stadium Cake

This post was originally published in 2016 on my other blog, but I love this cake, so I'm sharing it here!

Spud’s 6th birthday was last month and he had a baseball themed party (see here for all the details!) complete with a baseball stadium cake!

For the cake, I baked up a chocolate cake in 8-inch square pans and coated it with buttercream.  After leveling the cake, I had these perfect slanted bits leftover that I placed on top to use as stands!  I covered the stands in fondant (pretty much the only fondant on the cake, since Spud asked for "no roll out frosting") and then cut pieces out so I would have a place to sprinkle nonpareils to represent the crowd!

Next, I sprinkled brown sugar for the sandy baseball diamond and piped grass over the remaining outfield!

Lastly, I added a few baseballs along to edges, per Spud’s request.  Spud was thrilled with his cake and so was I!
