Carrots & Hummus – a FUN After School Snack

I’m going to be completely honest here…

I’ve had this idea pinned for ages, but I never actually thought it would get my kids to eat hummus (they’ve usually been pretty good about carrots.)

But when I received some great snack bags of carrots from Cal-Organic Farms, I knew it was time to give this a whirl.

And you know what?

My kids LOVED it!  They were both so excited about their little flower pots that they ate their snack bags of carrots and more!

Carrots & Hummus – a FUN After School Snack

Mini Flower Pots
Cal-Organic Baby Carrots
Parsley

Unless you are certain that your pots are food safe, line them with foil or press and seal. (I’ll be honest, my pots once had plants in them!  So I lined with press and seal!)

Fill a decorating bag fitted with a large piping tip (or a zipper bag with a corner cut off) with hummus and pipe it into the lined pots.

“Plant” 3 baby carrots in each pot.  Lightly dip a piece of parsley in the hummus and stick to a carrot.

Serve to children after school along with additional carrots.

  3. What a great idea for a snack. I love hummus and carrots, but my grand daughter love to eat them with sour cream. You could always make some with sour cream.
